Another 253 people have died, with the death toll now breaching 84 000. The country has now administered more than 14-point-1-million vaccines, with more than 233 000 done on Tuesday.
South Africa has recorded 7 338 new cases of covid-19, over the latest 24-hour monitoring period.
Meanwhile, Deputy President, David Mabuza has encouraged leaders in communities to set an example, and to get vaccinated against covid-19. Mabuza says this will help to encourage those South Africans, who are still hesitant to take the jab. Mabuza says the country’s target, of vaccinating at least 38-million adults, by 31 December 2021, can be reached if more people get inoculated as soon as possible.
At the same time, Business for South Africa’s Stavros Nicolau says getting immunized is the only way in which South Africans can ensure they have a proper Christmas. He says having the majority of the adult population vaccinated will ensure that tighter lockdown restrictions are not implemented by Government again.
