Western Cape MEC for Community Safety and Police Oversight, Reagen Allen says more boots are needed on the ground to help fight crime across the province.

Allen this week praised the City’s LEAP officers for their role in fighting crime and bringing criminals to book.

He says law enforcement officers serve as force-multipliers that help give vulnerable communities a sense of security.

Allen says LEAP officers arrested 142 suspects between May 2 and 8.

He says the officers were also able to implement more than 10 roadblocks during the period, while more than 340 houses and more than 1 980 vehicles were searched.
