
The Department of Tourism says applications for the next round of the Tourism Transformation Fund (TTF) and Green Tourism Incentive Programme (GTIP) are now open.
The applications officially opened on 1 October.
Departmental spokesperson, Blessing Manale says the TTF is aimed at assisting small and medium-sized, black-owned tourism businesses expand and grow their operations.
He says businesses can also now submit their applications for the Green Tourism Incentive Programme.
The funding, in collaboration with the Industrial Development Corporation, will provide funding to tourism business who want to make their operations “greener” and more environmentally sustainable.

The Green Tourism Incentive Programme is a resource efficiency incentive and assists private sector tourism enterprises in reducing the cost of investing in more energy and water efficient operations, while increasing their competitiveness and profitability in the long term.

The Deputy Tourism Minister, Fish Mahlalela has called on tourism operators to make their activities and attractions more affordable for locals.
During the official Tourism Day celebrations he said this will encourage a more inclusive tourism sector.
Mahlalela said pricing is one of the biggest factors that discourage locals from enjoying South Africa’s tourism offerings.
