The month of July calls on all of us to take action and transform the world, as each of us has the ability to do so. In light of Mandela Day on Sunday, 18 July, we are appealing to all eligible blood donors to take 30 of their 67 minutes to donate blood and help save up to 3 lives. Donating blood may only take 30 minutes of your time, but can make a life-changing difference in someone else’s life.
WCBS is experiencing a critical shortage in O- as we only have a 2-day supply left. “Contributing factors to the blood shortage is winter, as donors suffer from colds and flu and subsequently unable to donate blood. WCBS aims to maintain a bloodstock level of 5 days at all times to ensure we meet the demands of the Western Cape”, says Marike Gevers, Public Relations Manager at WCBS.
If you are between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh 50kg or more, are in general good health, lead a safe sexual lifestyle and would like to save three lives in just 30 minutes, you should be able to donate. To find your closest blood donation clinic, please download the app on Android and iOS or send us a WhatsApp on 060 549 7244 for more information.
