Law enforcement agencies are on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens amid threats of a national shutdown today.

The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure says its aware of inflammatory messages on various social media platforms advocating for violence under the hashtag #Shut-Down-South-Africa. The Nat-JOINTS has discouraged people from taking part in illegal activities.
