Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is expected to make a proclamation that 1 November will be the day the local government elections will be held.

That would be the last possible date for the Electoral Commission of South Africa to hold the elections following a judgment by the Constitutional court. News24 is reporting that during a heated moment, while rubbishing allegations by opposition parties that the reopening, by the IEC, of the candidate registration process was to the benefit of the ANC, the party’s deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte inadvertently confirmed 1 November as the date to be proclaimed by Dlamini-Zuma.
