Neve Campbell has signed on to reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott from the preceding four films in the “Scream” franchise, it was announced today by Spyglass Media Group, LLC (“Spyglass”) and Paramount Pictures. Campbell joins previously announced legacy cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox who will return as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, as well as new cast members Jack Quaid (“The Boys”), Melissa Barrera (“In The Heights”) and Jenna Ortega (“You”). Production will shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina. Spyglass and Paramount Pictures will release the film worldwide on January 14, 2022. Casting updates to follow.

Radio Silence said, “We’re pinching ourselves! It’s hard to express how much the character Sidney Prescott shaped our love of movies and to have the chance to work with Neve is truly a dream come true. It just wouldn’t be a ‘Scream’ movie without Neve and we’re so excited and honored to join her in Woodsboro.”

Campbell said, “After spending time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for Wes Craven and all that he’s created in the ‘Scream’ franchise. I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”

Up next, Campbell will star in the inspiring film “Clouds,” based on the life of Zach Sobiech and book by Laura Sobiech “Fly A Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom’s Small Prayer in a Big Way,”  which debuts on Disney+ this Fall. Campbell is well-known for playing Julia Salinger in the hit series “Party of Five” and held prominent roles in such films as “The Craft,” and “Three to Tango.” She starred in and produced “The Company,” directed by Robert Altman. She also starred in Netflix’s political thriller series “House of Cards.” Most recently, she starred in the action thriller “Skyscraper,” the political dramatic comedy “Hot Air,” and the drama “Castle in the Ground.”

“Scream” is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (“Ready or Not,” “V/H/S”) from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (“Murder Mystery,” “Zodiac,” “The Amazing Spider-Man”) and Guy Busick (“Ready or Not,” “Castle Rock”). Creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers.

“Scream” is a long-running genre-busting horror franchise which generated four feature films including “Scream” (1996), “Scream 2” (1997), “Scream 3” (2000) and “Scream 4” (2011). Directed by famed “maestro of horror,” the late Wes Craven, the films went on to gross more than $600 million in worldwide box office receipts.  Williamson wrote the original film as well as “Scream 2” and “Scream 4.”

Spyglass launched as a partnership between Gary Barber and Lantern Entertainment. The company has strategic investment backing from Warner Bros. Pictures, leaders in the motion picture industry; Eagle Pictures, the largest independent distributor in Italy; and Cineworld Group, the second-largest theatre chain in the world. Spyglass is home to more than 250 film library titles, scripted and unscripted television series, including Academy Award winners “The King’s Speech” and “The Artist;” box office hits “The Upside,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “The Hateful Eight,” “Django Unchained,” “Lee Daniel’s The Butler,” “Spy Kids” and “Paddington;” genre franchises “Hellraiser” and “Scream,” and the television series,  “Project Runway.”

Campbell is represented by CAA, Mosaic, attorney Jeff Bernstein and Viewpoint.

Donate Blood for Mandela Day

In the Western Cape, the winter months are traditionally a difficult period for blood collection, due to the fact that many regular donors suffer from colds and flu and are consequently unable to donate. This year, the Covid-19 pandemic has added hugely to this pressure.

Apart from the general decline in overall blood stock levels, there is currently a critical shortage in O- and B+ blood groups.

The Western Cape Blood Service needs to collect 700 units of blood every day in order to supply the province with a safe and sustainable blood supply.

There are approximately 7 million people living in the Western Cape and 75% of this population will require blood or blood products in their lifetime, however, only 1% of the population will ever donate blood.

So, we need everyone who fulfils the basic donor criteria to donate blood and be the difference in someone else’s life.

If you are between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh 50kg or more, are healthy on the day of donation and lead a safe sexual lifestyle, we need you to donate blood.

It only takes 30 minutes of your time and could save three lives.

This week, you can donate blood at these Western Cape Blood Service clinics:

All Covid-19 safety protocols are in place for your protection.

Ewan Strydom did his bit by donating blood at the Long Street branch:

The Club Vibe Tribute has been around since the first edition hosted at Lambégo Lounge in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town on Saturday the 7th of February 2009. The Tribute was inspired by Theo Bosh & Clinton Blanchard who had been avid Club Vibe patrons and huge fans of Fast Eddie while coming up in the Cape Town night club scene. The music Eddie introduced on a weekly basis is all that is left of this once iconic night club that broke boundaries and created many memories in the 3 venues it occupied over the years. The tribute events have travelled to many various venues in the south over the years as well but the music has always remained the same. Nothing the best in Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop & Classic Club Tracks from the 90 & 2000’s all night long!

Invite the party into your lounge as we join Fast Eddie and other club legends from the golden era of clubbing for a day of uninterrupted club classics.

To put us all back in touch with nature, WWF South Africa has launched a restful playlist of the unique sounds and features of Africa’s natural heritage for enjoyment safely at home, while observing the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown.

The WWF playlist, titled ‘Bring Nature Inside’, captures the soundscapes of our beautiful natural world and features the sounds of projects and areas where WWF is actively working.

“We wanted to allow people to experience the richness of nature. With many of us feeling overwhelmed by the current state of the world and the unique disruptions we are facing, it is imperative for us to take care of our mental and emotional well-being. Nature provides the perfect ‘escape’ that we need during this time,” says Justin Smith, head of business development at WWF South Africa.

From the enchanting sounds of rhino translocations, to the soothing backdrop of a free-flowing river and the rhythmic sound of the Atlantic Ocean, each authentic track features immersive sounds with a description that brings together the beauty and significance of our natural resources, and showcases the work WWF is doing to help protect South Africa’s natural heritage.

“Fostering a connection with nature during these unsettling times is essential for our well-being and a reminder of the ways in which we can look after our environment, especially as the world searches for a new normal in how we live,” says Justin.

With its 10-hour long mix of different calming and inspirational tracks, the WWF SA soundscapes can be enjoyed in any setting; whether you are working, exercising, cooking, gardening or simply taking a break from your home desk. For access to the WWF SA Soundscape Playlist please visit wwf.org.za or click on the below links:

The soundscapes will also be available on various streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, Google Play and Amazon. A percentage of the streaming royalties will go to support WWF SA’s ongoing conservation work, at no cost to the platform user.

“We are excited to share soundscapes with our audiences. Distance does not mean disconnect, and we hope that with this platform we can help bring some solace and peace to people in these extraordinarily trying times. At the same time, we want to highlight that nature still matters; we must continue safeguarding it so that we can all enjoy it together again in the future. As an added benefit, every time a track is streamed, WWF will earn a modest amount of much-needed money to put towards its conservation efforts,” says Justin.
