Now I am a bakkie type of guy. Being proudly South African and a family man here in Cape Town, a bakkie needs to be part of the family. Trips to the beach with the kids and the dogs, those camping trips, and if you are an avid gardener like me, that load bin comes in very handy. And those are just a few “quality” reasons as to why we all need a bakkie!

But the ‘Bakkie’ landscape, according to Tesla, will look very different in the future! Seriously, did we really expect anything less from Tesla?

Enter the Cybertruck! An electric bakkie that reminds me of that iconic Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk. And I am excited!

This new Cybertruck has three configurations that we can look forward to:

  • A single motor rear-wheel drive with 250 miles of range, 7,500-pound towing capacity, and 0-60 mph capabilities in under 6.5 seconds, for $39,900.
  • A dual motor all-wheel drive with 300 miles of range, 10,000-pound towing capacity, and 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds for $49,900.
  • a triple motor all-wheel drive with 500 miles of range, 14,000-pound towing capacity, and 0-60 mph in under 2.9 seconds for $69,900.

The latter is sure to get any motor enthusiasts’ engines revving!

Not to mention the majestic mountains and a sunset backdrop. And just recently the line up for the summer concert series has been announced, and it looks good! So good in fact, that I have to share it, I thought that it was my duty to do so in the event that you have not scheduled a visit to the gardens yet! It is one of those type of events that if you miss it, you will kick yourself!

It’s going to be rocking summer, that is for sure and it will continue all the way through April 2020 catering for every taste.

I remember as a kid, sitting in my grandma’s flat on the farm, she has just bought a big TV, the only way I could describe it was that it looked like a boulder, a big one, it had a huge screen, it was probably one of the first Big screen TV’s, far from a flat screen though, its boulder like appearance took up quite a bit of space in the living room!  But I did enjoy watching cartoons on it, it was my favourite school holiday past time after a long day helping granddad in the workshop. And when The Jetsons came on, I was hooked, the high tech, the futuristic buildings and….the flying cars…

Although that was just a dream back then and the world thought it to be impossible and only good in children’s stories,  advancements in the tech field proved otherwise!

Electric vehicles are now mainstream and drone technology has come to a point where companies are starting to test autonomous drone taxi’s around the world. This industry will definitely take flight soon, and Porsche and Boeing want in on the coming rush, especially by the rich. They have announced they will be working together to build flying cars for the wealthy.

In this week’s Tech Tuesday segment with Theunis Janse van Rensburg, we chat about the partnership and what it could mean for the industry as a whole.

Yes, if you are keeping a keen eye on what is happening in the world of electric vehicles, then you would know that there is quite the buzz around the brand new Porsche Taycan, and according to our Tech Expert Theunis Janse van Rensburg, also Tesla’s first real competition!

Of course we know that Elon Musk and his team at Tesla has been working hard and have been growing their Tesla brand exponentially over the past year and has been kind of leading the field of EV’s. But can this new edition to the electronic vehicle market prove to be a worthy contender, and for its rather hefty price tag, is it worth having one in your garage?

The Porsche Taycan wont be released in South Africa anytime soon, but we are still quite excited to see what this baby is all about!

Theunis Janse van Rensburg from bandwidthblog.co.za joined me in your Tech Tuesday chat to give us the inside scoop.

In this weeks Tech Tuesday with Theunis Janse van Rensburg of Bandwitdth Blog, a rather fascinating chat about which is the smarter one, Google assistant, Siri or Alexa??

Smileys, Artificial Intelligence is slowly but surely becoming more and more prevalent in our day to day lives. And when it come to either one of the three above mentioned assistants, most of us can admit that we used them on the odd occasion, for some, they have become an invaluable source of giving you instant informational at your request simply by asking! Siri, what’s the weather like, Alexa, play Old Town road or, Hello Google,  where is the best place for a Bunny chow! You can literally ask them anything and they will scour the world wide web on your behalf!

The big question is, which one of them can be considered the smartest? And yes, there are actually people out their that devote their time and energy into finding out which one has the higher IQ, and Theunis joined me in studio to tell us what did they find in the end and how did they do it!
